Mayor Imelda Aguilar ordered to start the distribution of another 160,000 packages consisting of rice, canned goods, noodles and a pack of 20 Nutribuns for every family in all of the city’s 20 barangays last Holy Wednesday.

The distribution of second batch of food assistance is being carried out by the city’s Incident Management Team in safe and orderly manner.

Aguilar said they included the Nutribuns in the second batch of food assistance believing that this would help in ensuring that, even with the limited supply, city resident’s nutritional need is addressed.

She said the buns were being prepared by a private baker in the city they tapped after San Miguel Foods Corporation donated 200 sacks of flour city last week.

The repacking of food packs with Nutribuns continues even during the Holy Week, and the mayor said they expect to finish the delivery of all food packages by Easter Sunday, or until the donated flours are made into buns.

The city government earlier released a total of P10-million for cash assistance to 6,500 tricycle drivers and 3,500 pedicab operators who were deprived of their daily earnings with the strict enforcement of ECQ.

“We continue to find ways to extend help to our Las Pineros who are mostly affected by the ECQ brought about by COVID-19 pandemic, which we all pray to be over soon,” Aguilar added.
