SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The provincial government is currently distributing fortified powdered milk in various municipalities for underweight children aged two years old to pre-school.
The Provincial Nutrition Committee (PNC) said the milk distribution project was aimed at alleviating the problems faced by Kapampangans due to the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda said the project aims to aid all sectors, especially those which belonged to less privileged sectors of the province.
“Patuloy na nagsisikap ang pamahalaang panlalawigan para maayudahan ang lahat. Ito
pong simpleng tulong na ito ay hindi lamang pantawid-gutom, kundi para na rin
palakasin ang resistensiya ng mga bata, lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya”( We
are doing our best to aid everyone. This simple help is not only just to address hunger,
but also to strengthen their immunity against disease) Pineda said.
He also appealed to the people to cooperate with the implementing guidelines of ECQ to
prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“Hangga’t maaari, sana po ay manatili tayo sa ating mga kabahayan para hindi na
tumaas pa ang kaso ng COVID-19 sa ating probinsiya.( If possible, we appeal to our
fellowmen to stay at home to avoid the increase of COVID-19 infected cases in our
province)” the governor added.
The activity was under the Community-Based Milk Supplementation Program which was initiated by Pineda last year.
To date, there were already 534 pouches of 1.2 kilograms of fortified powdered milk
distributed in the municipality of Mexico.
