BAGUIO CITY – Gun-wielding suspects tried to kill a coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) frontliner, who was just coming off duty Tuesday in Barangay Cabaroan in Dolores, Abra.

Barangay health worker Ana Maria Sagada Macapagat, 45, was onboard a tricycle, and was on her way home after her duty at the Barangay Cabaroan COVID-19 task force, when she was ambushed.

Gunmen reportedly blocked the path of the tricycle as it was nearing Okyang bridge in the barangay, and started shooting at Macapagat.

Macapagat was rushed to the hospital by responding personnel of the Dolores Municipal Station. She sustained gunshot wounds in the back and feet.

Police were still determining the motive behind Macapagat’s ambush.
