Extending the ECQ a difficult choice — Lacson
By Mario Casayuran
The decision to extend the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from April 12 to April 30 was a difficult choice by President Duterte as the Department of Health (DOH) has yet to see the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) reach a plateau.

“As I have stated earlier, it is a very difficult choice to make between flattening the curve of the COVID-19 faster than what the situation is right now and the impact on the economy due to business inactivity and work stoppage,’’ Senator Panfilo M. Lacson said.
“It entails a thorough study and projections,’’ he explained.
“Therefore, it is best left to the health and economic clusters in the cabinet to decide. Congress of course will not shirk from our responsibility to do our own research and recommend to the executive on how to move forward,’’ he stressed.
“More than the availability of funds, the biggest challenge is in the roll out or distribution of the social amelioration funds to cover as many families hit by the ongoing lockdown,’’ he added.
Lacson pointed out that funds could be made available through savings, grants and loans.
