More Kadiwa rolling stores will be deployed in the city of Manila on Wednesday, April 8, morning, the city government announced.
The additional stores will be launched at Barangay 375 at Zone 38 Aurora corner Rizal Avenue and at Barangay 387 at Zone 39 Arlegui corner Nepomuceno at 7 a.m.
The Manila city government, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, mobilized the Kadiwa rolling stores to bring fresh produce straight from the country’s farmers closer to residents amid the enhanced community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.
In a statement, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said the project aims to connect farmers directly to consumers without a middle man, making the farm products cheaper.
On Tuesday, the city government rolled out more market-on-wheels stores at Barangay 56 at the Zone 5 Basketball Court and at Barangay 118 at the Rawis Basketball Court. The first two Kadiwa rolling stores were placed at Lambingan Ferry Station in front of Thomas Earnshaw Elementary School near Barangay 896 and 897 and along J. Posadas Street near Road 2, Punta, Sta. Ana near Barangays 903 and 905 on Monday.
The Manila Public Information Office announced that additional rolling stores will be opened in the coming days.
