“Sen. Koko Pimentel will also be invited to explain,” NBI Director Eric Distor told the Manila Bulletin Wednesday night (April 1) in a text message.

With this, Distor gave the assurance that Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto is not being singled out in the NBI’s ongoing investigation against local officials who may have violated the national government’s quarantine rules.

“Explain lang po, no case yet (There is no case yet against Sotto),” he clarified.

Aside from Pimentel and Sotto, the NBI chief disclosed that the agency has also invited Barangay Capt. Emeliano Ramos of Barangay Talon Uno, Las Piñas City, and Barangay Capt. Rodolfo Palma of Barangay Pag-Asa in Quezon City where a rally took place Wednesday morning.

The Makati Medical Center (MMC) earlier denounced Pimentel for visiting the hospital last March 24 to accompany his pregnant wife even though he was supposed to be on self-quarantine at that time for being a person under monitoring (PUM).

He later announced he tested positive for COVID-19.

Sotto was earlier criticized for allegedly allowing tricycles to operate in Pasig City in spite of a government directive suspending all public transportation due to the community quarantine.
