Makati City Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay has expressed her gratitude to city frontliners for their sacrifices during these trying times, and asked residents to pray for their safety while fighting COVID-19.
In an open letter in Filipino, Binay said, “To our Makati City frontliners, thank you so much for your service! We trust and support all of you.”
“Let us all pray for safety of our frontliners from Ospital ng Makati, Makati DRRMO (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office), Makati Health Department, Public Safety Department, Engineering, Department of Environment and Sanitation, and Incident Command Post,” she added.
The mayor said these are the people putting their health at risk just to serve Makati residents during the enhanced community quarantine.
The local government of Makati has urged the public to remain at home so that they will not get infected with the coronavirus.
Binay also called on residents to regularly clean their houses and make it a habit to disinfect their houses at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. to halt the spread of the disease.
Food packs, medicines, and financial assistance have been delivered by the local government to residents so that they no longer have to go outside their houses.
As of 4 p.m. of April 1, the city government said the city has a total of 124 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 5 deaths.
