The city of Manila posted its highest single-day spike of COVID-19 confirmed cases with 41 new cases, bringing the total to 116.

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso also announced in his city address on Wednesday that there have now been 17 COVID-19 deaths in the Philippine capital.

Meanwhile, 10 patients have recovered from the disease, the local chief executive added.

He also urged residents of the city to continue following social distancing guidelines and to remain at home to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Philippines has a total of 2,311 COVID-19 cases with 96 deaths and 50 recovered patients.
