CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – As the fight against the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continuous, the regional command of Caraga Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) here has prepared additional 370 policemen on-standby in case additional forces would be urgently needed on the ground.
“If there is a need for additional front liners, we have 370 police personnel serving as Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) for Covid-19,” PRO 13 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr. told The Manila Bulletin on Saturday.
“They will be mobilized for the strict implementation of guidelines on localized community quarantine as well as the protocol set by the Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Disease,” stressed the region’s top police official.
As of now, almost 2,000 personnel from PRO 13, Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao, Bureau of Fire Protection 13, Department of Health, and local government units have already been deployed to the different Quarantine Control Points spread in the five provinces and six cities in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region.
Being the region’s frontier and capital city, strict implementation of the quarantine is being practiced in all Quarantine Control Points in the boarders of Butuan.
Meanwhile, the PNP Caraga top cop continued to appeal to the local populace to cooperate with the personnel manning the quarantine control points adding that ensuring public safety against this dreadful disease is everyone’s concern.
“We are appealing to Caraganons to stay home and respect protocols currently implemented by law enforcers and health authorities and other concerned line agencies of the government to avoid the spread of the deadly virus,” said PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Maj. Renel E. Serrano, in his appeal on Saturday.
