Dismissed cop, cohorts killed in anti-narcotics operation in Polomolok

GENERAL SANTOS CITY– A dismissed policeman and his two cohorts were killed after they reportedly shot it out with anti-narcotics police operatives during a drug bust in Polomolok, South Cotabato last Thursday.

Police Regional Office 12 Director Brig.Gen. Alfred Corpus identified the suspect as former Police Officer 1 Joel Labuen, Gary Montero and Anthony Rosales.

They reportedly engaged operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit and Polomolok Municipal Police in a shootout in Barangay Cannery in Polomolok town.

P/Colonel JemuelSiason, South Cotabato police director, said Labuen drew a handgun after sensing that the poseur buyer was a policeman, and escaped aboard a motorcycle together with the two other suspects.

Pursuing policemen collared the suspects at a residential compound in Purok Aquino in Barangay Cannery where a shootout transpired between the police operatives and the suspects.

Police recovered several grams of shabu, a.45 caliber and 9 9mm pistols, and a .38-caliber revolver from the suspects.

Police tagged Labuen as a high-value drug peddler who was included in the narco-list of President Duterte.

He was dismissed from the police service in 2016 for his alleed involvement in illegal drugs.

Police said aside from illegal drugs, the suspects were also involved in gun-for-hire actiities.

PLt.Col. Alex Joe Orcajada, Polomolok police chief, said the suspects were also tagged in the killing of Senior Inspector. Herman Gabat, Polomolok deputy police chief, who was gunned down inside a local restaurant in Polomolok in 2017.
