DAVAO CITY — The provincial government of Davao del Norte has increased its quick response fund (QRF) to P60.9 million that will allow it to intensify its campaign in fighting the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) menace.

Davao del Norte Governor Edqin Jubahid said, in a statement released Thursday, that the QRF budget has been increased from P16 million to allow the province to improve its preventive and immediate response capabilities.

Jubahib said they are currently building 45 isolation rooms for persons under investigation (PUIs) in the province.

He said these facilities could help decongest the Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) as the PUI who have mild symptoms could be transferred there.

“Kini nga mga ‘isolation rooms’ maoy butangan sa mga PUIs nga duna lamang mild symptoms ug matabangan nato ang DRMC nga mag-concentrate sa grabe nga mga symptoms nga nagkinahanglan ug dihadiha medical nga pag-atiman (These isolation rooms will house PUI with mild symptoms so that the DRMC can now concentrate on cases that need immediate medical actions) ,” he said.

Jubahib said the 15 isolation rooms at the Davao Del Norte Provincial District Hospital Kapalong Zone were ready to be utilized, while the other 30 are still under construction at the Provincial District Hospital Carmen Zone.

The governor said he fast-tracked the projects since these were among the measures that could prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Jubahib has urged the people in the province to be vigilant since there was a person, who arrived from Makati City and was found positive for COVID-19, and is currently quarantined at DRMC.

He said the cooperation of the public on the implementation of the guidelines against COVID-19 will be the key in eradicating the virus.
