With the signing into law of the Bayanihan Act of 2020 by President Duterte, Senator Aquilino Pimentel III expects the national government to implement it as soon as possible to help contain the spread of the dreaded coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“The people should cooperate 100 percent. I expect that the aid, equipment, and other resources will fortify the resolve of our health workers, both public and private,’’ Pimentel, a former Senate President, said.
Pimentel is also president of PDP-Laban party. President Duterte is a ranking PDP-Laban party official.
In a Viber message to Senate reporters, Pimentel said his support to the medical front liners is ‘’all out.’’
“Also those affected by work stoppage. The richer segment of society should sacrifice and absorb the impact of the slowdown. We prioritize the poor first and those sacrificing their lives for public health,’’ he added.
