In these trying times, we prove that even technology has a heart.  Below are some of the tech-related companies that are willing to lend a helping hand.

Smart Communications

Smart Communications reaches out amidst the COVID-19 pandemic offering free SmartWifi on selected hospitals nationwide. SMART has also been helping LGU’s send out SMS Alerts through their Smart Infocast Platform regarding the pandemic. Smart users may also access official websites such as NDRRMC, DOH, and PIA through their mobile phones without data charges.  Subscribers can make calls without being charged to the 911 Emergency Hotline and 8888 Citizens Complaint Center.

No need to worry about paying your bills, Smart & PLDT will be having a 30-day extension for due bills. Online payment of bills are also available via Mobile App, PayMaya or Online Banking applications. For most of us who are now working from home, PLDT has provided a speed boost for Fibr subscribers. A minimum speed of 25 Mbps will be given until April 30; this is applicable to residents of Metro Manila and of Greater Manila (Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal.)

Globe Telecom

Globe has given help to their subscribers during the COVID-19 Enhanced Community Quarantine and advices everyone to stay #SafeAtHome. Globe Telecom made Gie on Facebook Messenger operational to assist users on their inquiries; a skeleton staff will be working and manning services from 9am to 6pm. G-Community at the website will also be operational for any customer inquiries. Globe will be extending Bills Payment for 30-days or you may pay your bills online via Globe At Home App, GCash, PayMaya or Online banking applications.

To our healthcare workers who are in the frontline of the pandemic, Globe has reached out and offered unlimited internet connection via GoWifi at selected hospitals in Metro Manila. Globe also has free access to official websites such as NDRRMC and DOH. Globe customers may also subscribe to KonsultaMD and can get in touch with a doctor via the 79880 telehealth hotline without mobile call charges. This service provides immediate medical advice on COVID-19 symptoms.

GCash & PayMaya

gcash and paymaya

As we fear transmission of the virus, cashless payments is the only way to go in this COVID-19 crisis.  In this scenario, we can all rely on GCash and PayMaya.  Regardless of the 30-day extension of bills payment, you can pay and manage your bills via the GCash and the PayMaya App. These E-Wallets cover utilities and services such as Meralco, Maynilad, PLDT, Bank Transfers and payments, and so much more! GCash customers who are in good standing and due dates will have penalties waived.  Customers may pay their GCredit Bill through the GCash App without worrying about penalty fees.

GCash is lending a hand by supporting frontline healthcare workers and hospitals through the #FightCOVID19 campaign. To send support, GCash users will simply tap on the “Pay Bills” icon in their GCash apps, choose the “Others” tab, and click “FightCOVID19.” GCash users should enter their name and the amount that they are donating to confirm their donation.
