The Quezon City government on Tuesday enforced an “extreme enhanced community quarantine’’ in the city’s 11 barangays severely affected by the novel coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) starting at 7 p.m. of March 23.

Mayor Joy Belmonte said the following barangays under the extreme enhanced community quarantine are barangays Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, San Isidro Labrador, Tatalon, Damayang Lagi, Batasan Hills, Masagana, Bagong Silangan, Pasong Tamo, and Central.

She explained that Barangay Central does not have COVID-19 patients but is under extreme enhanced community quarantine as many hospitals are located in the area.

Barangay Old Balara is not included in the extreme enhanced community quarantine since it has only one active case remaining (one died and one recovered).

Barangay Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, which has three positive patients, is not in the extreme enhanced community quarantine list since all three patients belong to a single household.

As a precautionary measure, the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Quezon City Fire Department have continuously disinfected the city’s streets and highways.

As of March 23, 2020, the following areas were disinfected and decontaminated:

  • Barangay Maharlika - assisted by the Laloma Fire Sub Station
  • Barangay Roxas - assisted by the Paligsahan Fire Sub Station
  • Barangay Pasong Putik - assisted by Pasong Putik Fire Sub Station
  • Barangay Pinagkaisahan - assisted by Pinagkaisahan Fire Sub Station
  • Barangay Batasan Hills - conducted decontamination action at Sunnyside Heights Subdivision and other streets.
