4.0-magnitude quake jolts Davao del Sur

BUTUAN CITY – A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Davao del Sur province early Monday morning, March 23, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the earthquake was registered at 12:34 a.m.
The tremor was plotted six kilometers northwest of the town proper of Kiblawan, in Davao del Sur province, and had a depth of only 10 km, it said.
In its instrumental intensities, Phivolcs also said Intensity 3 was recorded in Koronadal City, while Intensity 3 was registered in Tupi, South Cotabato; and Intensity 1 in General Santos City, Kidapawan City and Malungon, Sarangani
No aftershocks and damages are expected from the tremor, it also said.
At 5:48 a.m. March 23, a 3.5-magnitude tectonic earthquake was also recorded and its epicenter was traced 13 km southeast of Columbio town, Sultan Kudarat province.
On the same day, at 5:33 a.m., a 3.7-magnitude tremor was registered and its epicenter was pinpointed 17 km southeast of the same town and province, with a depth of 10 km, Phivolcs also said.
No aftershock was raised by the state agency and no damages or injury are expected from the two tremors.
