QUEZON CITY–As a pre-cautionary measure, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario on Saturday asked all DHSUD personnel to take the necessary steps, including self-quarantine, after one of its officials died recently.

While the fatality is yet to be confirmed as coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) victim, Secretary Del Rosario took the initiative to protect DHSUD personnel and their families from possible contamination.

“Pending result of our colleague’s medical findings, I am asking all DHSUD officials and employees to take precautionary measures to protect yourself and your family from possible COVID 19 exposure,” Secretary Del Rosario said.

The DHSUD official died Wednesday in Baguio City — almost two weeks after attending a seminar in Quezon City last March 6.

Secretary Del Rosario had directed all who had direct contact with her to immediately self-quarantine including their family members for 14 days.

So far, no other DHSUD official or employee has reported having symptoms of COVID-19, including those from Region 1 where the fatality was based.

Secretary Del Rosario, nonetheless, ordered close monitoring of the health and well-being of all DHSUD officials and employees for their safety and possible execution of health care protocol.

“I am ensuring all DHSUD personnel that we will face this crisis as one team and one family. Rest assured that the department will institute adequate safeguards to keep us all out of harm’s way,” Secretary Del Rosario concluded.
