ILIGAN CITY – A barangay official here denied that he collected payment for the issuance of quarantine pass in Barangay Tubod here.

Barangay Tubod Councilor Efren Baguio clarified that the quarantine pass was free of-charge and that it was to be issued to the person in the household designated to go out of the residence to purchase food, and other supplies while the quarantine is ongoing.

He explained that what his barangay was collecting payment for was for the Barangay ID, which costs P100, and P30 for the documentary stamp.

“Hindi kami nanghingi ng bayad dito, actually iyong P130 talaga ay iyong nanghingi ng barangay ID,” he said.

Baguio also said there was a miscommunication when word from City Hall came out to start issuing the quarantine passes, which were misconstrued for the Barangay ID.

“At the same time kahapon nagkasabay iyong nanghingi ng ID at Qpass at binigyan. Akala niya iyong Qpass ay binayaran niya, sabay piniktyuran niya,” Baguio said.

The councilor added that purok heads were going to claim the quarantine passes from the barangay for eventual distribution to constituents in their areas of jurisdiction.
