DAVAO CITY – The number of persons under monitoring (PUMs) for possible infection of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the town of Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte has increased from 44 to 268 in less than 24 hours.

This was based on the data released by the Municipal Diseases Surveillance and Response Quick Reaction Team (MDSR-QRT) Friday afternoon after it was able to consolidate the reports from the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) in 19 barangays.

Municipal Health Officer Dr. June Lim said the spike in the number of PUMs was attributed to the effort of the Municipal Inter-agency Task Force COVID-19 to encourage everyone to inform the municipal government about anyone having recent travel history to COVID-19 infected areas or countries.

As of Friday, the MDSR-QRT recorded a total of 268 PUMs spread across 19 barangays.

Of the 268, 67 PUMs have already been discharged from the mandatory 14-day home quarantine imposed by the MDSR-QRT.
