Drunk arrested for chasing a brgy chairman with a knife

BACOLOD CITY – A man, who was reportedly drunk, was arrested after he allegedly punched the chairperson Barangay Banaybanay, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental on Wednesday after he was told to go home because the entire province was already under a general community quarantine.

Arrested as a certain Margi Garote, 37.

According to the police, Garote was approached by Barangay Banaybanay Chairman Gilbert Vicente to tell him to go home because he was already in violation of quarantine rules.

But instead of following the official, the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and chased after Vicente.

Police were eventually able to neutralize Garote. The knife was recovered from him.

Charges of direct assault upon a person of authority are being readied by the police against the suspect.
