Two new vehicles from Mitsubishi have just been introduced in the market. These capable vehicles are the Xpander Cross and the Strada Athlete.

Xpander Cross

As its name suggests, the Xpander Cross is a seven-seater MPV, just like the Xpander it is derived from. This new model takes the Xpander’s practicality and versatility to a new level with its more robust design.

The Xpander Cross now boasts of class-leading 225mm ground clearance, combined with specially-tuned suspension with a rebound spring to allow it to traverse more challenging terrain without compromising ride comfort. On the front, it features a protective lower bumper skid plate. It now includes LED headlights and fog lamps. To take on the rougher terrain, it is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, with wheel arch molding and side body garnishes. Finally, to add to its utility, it is also fitted with a roof rail to mount roof racks.

Besides its raised ride height, the Xpander Cross benefits from a wide windshield and high seating position, providing the driver with better visibility. It comes with cruise control features to lessen fatigue during long drives.

For the passengers, there’s a spacious cabin, fitted with versatile seats that can be configured in various positions to accommodate different space or seat requirements. The second and third row seats are capable of folding flat and with no gaps to accommodate large cargo load.

This flexibility is combined with luxurious interior design dominated by black with brown accents on the dashboard, as well as the seats covered with dual tone leather.

For entertainment, it features a seven-inch touch screen audio system with reverse camera. The tech savvy will delighted by power outlets on the front, middle and rear rows. High-performance sound absorbing and vibration blocking materials installed in the engine ensure a quiet ride.

The Xpander Cross is powered by a 1.5L MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system) DOHC gasoline engine with 16 valves. It’s paired to a four-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.

“The Xpander is a very important nameplate to MMPC as it fits many of the vehicle requirements of Filipinos. Now with the entry of the Xpander Cross and its added features, we see renewed potential to the already successful Xpander nameplate,” said by MMPC President and CEO, Mutsuhiro Oshikiri.

With the tagline “Live Extra”, the launch campaign of the Xpander Cross also features a celebrity family as its brand ambassadors.

“The Arellano family is the best representation of a modern and adventurous Filipino family. Despite their hectic schedule, both Drew and Iya are still able to balance a fun and healthy lifestyle, while being amazing parents to their kids,” said Alvin Dalida, MMPC’s First Vice President for Marketing and Sales Division.

Strada Athlete

Another new model from Mitsubishi is the Strada Athlete; it features a tougher and sportier aesthetic design. These are composed of additions like a black dynamic shield, black front bumper garnish, 18-inch black alloy wheels, styling bar and side decal accents that are matched with a two-tone interior finish.

Inside, the Strada Athlete is fitted with two-tone black and orange leather upholstery with orange stitching accents in its seats, gear shift panel/knob and parking brake lever.

Besides the already extensive list of standard features, the Strada Athlete comes with these electronic system additions: Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist (BSW with LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA); Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS); Trailer Stability Assist; Hill Descent Control; Hill Start Assist; Multi Around Monitor with guiding and expected course line; and Auto High Beam.

“We are very excited to introduce the Strada Athlete here in the Philippines as we strongly feel that the new design will appeal very well to pick-up enthusiasts. It’s robust and sporty design best represents the capabilities of our truck,” said Oshikiri.

The new Xpander Cross is priced at Php 1,255,000.00. The Strada Athlete is available in 4×2 for Php 1,443,000.00; and 4×4 for Php 1,760,000.00. Both the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross and Strada athlete are now in all Mitsubishi Motors showrooms nationwide.
