Earlier today, Facebook flagged down COVID-19-related content from legitimate sources as spam or violating community content.
Guy Rosen, Facebook’s vice president of integrity said that this was a bug in the anti-spam system. He also said that this incident has nothing to do with the changes in Facebook’s content moderator.
He later tweeted that all posts that were incorrectly removed had been restored. It included other topics besides COVID-19. He further explained that the incident was an issue from the “automated system that removes links to abusive websites, but incorrectly removed a lot of other posts too.”
This happened at the same time as Facebook, along with tech giants, made an announcement on flagging misinformation.
