Davao City gov’t to provide 10,000 face masks to commuters

DAVAO CITY — The city government here will be producing 10,000 face masks that will be distributed to commuters as precautionary measures against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Mayor Sara Z. Duterte said, in an interview with 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio FM on Wednesday afternoon, there was a medical doctor, who has already designed the face mask that will be used for the mass production.

The mayor said she has already given the design to the sewers in the city to hasten their production and eventual distribution for the public.

“Ongoing na karon ang mass production,”s he said.

She said the local government was prompted to make the move due to the lack of the supply of face masks in the city.

Duterte said it was really needed that all commuters should wear face masks to protect themselves, as well to prevent the possible spread of the virus.

She also reminded drivers of public transportation to observe the social distancing among their passengers, which should be at least two meters distance from every person.
