The first coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient admitted to the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Hospital has now been discharged, the hospital management confirmed on Tuesday in a statement.

"We are happy to announce that we have discharged our first COVID-19 positive patient, initially critically ill, but now clinically well and satisfying the discharge criteria set by the Department of Health," the statement read.

The hospital still has one more patient receiving treatment for COVID-19.

Per the Department of Health's (DOH) latest data, seven patients in the country have already recovered from COVID-19 as of Wednesday.

However, the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines jumped to 193 after six new cases were recorded on Wednesday. The disease has also claimed 14 lives in the country.

President Duterte has placed the entire island of Luzon under enhanced community quarantine from March 17 to April 12 amid the COVID-19 threat.

The Philippines is also under a state of public health emergency with the COVID-19 alert system raised to Code Red Sublevel 2.
