LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — For the next 15 days, the borders of Albay will be closed to travelers, visitors and even returning residents for 15 days as a precautionary measure against the spread of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
During the press conference held Wednesday afternoon here, Albay governor Al Francis Bichara said that they will immediately shut down borders upon the signing of the executive order.
He said that the closure was unanimously approved by the league of municipal mayors, Albay chapter.
Bichara said that the police will be be strictly implementing the executive order in which boundaries of Albay-Camarines, Albay-Sorsogon and Albay-Catanduanes will be closed.
Only the shipment of food will be allowed to enter the province, provided that the personnel accompanying the goods will not stay overnight, otherwise they will be subjected to quarantine.
“Kapag natulog sila dito o matagal, subject for quarantine sila. Pero kung sandali lang naman, hindi na,” Bichara said.
Meanwhile, province of Masbate has already implemented a lockdown since Monday where no one will be allowed to enter the province. Only the supply of goods, medicine and health service front liners would be allowed into the province.
