More than 3.6 million beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) with cash cards will receive their cash grants this month, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured on Tuesday, March 17.
DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao allayed concerns of 4Ps beneficiaries amid the temporary suspension of the payouts of Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens and Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) from March 15 to April 14.
“4Ps beneficiaries with cash cards will receive their grants,” she told reporters covering the DSWD in a Viber message.
She said the cash grants will be released “this month.”
“Antayin lang po advisory ng release before sila pumunta sa mga ATMs,” Dumlao said. (They have to wait for an advisory on the release [of the cash grants] before they go to the ATMs.)
She noted that currently, more than 3.6 million beneficiaries of 4Ps have cash cards.
DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista earlier disclosed that as of December, 2019, more than 4.8 million poor households have been served by 4Ps in 17 regions and 80 provinces.
He said 4Ps is “active” in 145 cities and in more than 1,400 municipalities.
Bautista cited that 4Ps is one of the DSWD’s social protection programs which “contributed immensely” to the reduction of poverty incidence from 23.3 percent in 2015 to 16.6 percent in 2018.
Aside from 4Ps, the other pro-poor programs of the DSWD include Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens (SPISC), Supplemental Feeding Program (SFP), Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive, Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), and Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).
