Antique to impose 14-day border restrictions

ILOILO CITY—As precautionary measure against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the provincial government of Antique will impose1border restrictions from March 17 to March 31.

“This is not a lockdown. We are implementing 14-day border restriction due to the influx of Manila-based Antiqueños,” said Governor Rhodora “Dodod” Cadiao in a Saturday advisory.

“This action is deemed necessary to curb spread of disease. The safety of Antiqueños is of highest priority,” Cadiao added.

The advisory calls on residents of the province to finish “all personal business outside of the province and return to Antique on or before Monday as we implement community quarantine on Tuesday”.

While Cadiao has not yet issued an executive order, she assured the people of Antique that her administration and Antique Lone District Representative Loren Legarda will provide assistance and free medical aid to constituent with medical needs.

“While the government remains determined in combating and preventing the spread of COVID-19, we ask every Antiqueño to remain calm and vigilant,” Legarda said in a separate statement.
