PNR suspends work from March 12 to 14

The Philippine National Railways (PNR) announced on Thursday the suspension of work from March 12 to 14 as a precautionary measure due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) risk.

“In adherence to the protocols set by the Department of Health (DOH), the Philippine National Railways (PNR) will conduct cleaning and disinfecting of the PNR Executive Building from today March 12, 2020, until Sunday, March 14, 2020,” PNR said in an advisory.

PNR said that all office works are also suspended during the said period.

Meanwhile, PNR has heightened its implementation of precautionary measures against COVID-19.

The management said they adopted thermal scanning to all passengers before they enter the train stations.

They also provided masks and alcohol to train personnel and continuously making procurement of supplies and equipment.

Disinfecting protocols for the trains has also been implemented, the management added.

DOH reported on Wednesday nine new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 49.
