Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. on Thursday said he is banning the holding of inter-agency meetings inside the building of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) amid the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Locsin announced this over Twitter as he said that a friend has paid to disinfect the DFA building.

“I won’t hustle him again for a redo,” he said.

Locsin added that inter-agency meetings will be held on the front lawn under the sun to “cure the virus of loquacity by sunstroke.”

Also, Locsin suggested that those speaking should not exceed more than five minutes and keep a distance of four meters from the closest audience.

“This is the highest protocol: no one should talk for more than 5 minutes and at a distance from the closest audience is 4 meters and among whose members, the same distance should be observed,” he said in a separate tweet.

The ban of holding inter-agency meetings within the DFA building and the process of disinfecting it came amid unconfirmed reports that one of its employees allegedly manifested symptoms of the disease.

DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez has yet to respond to a media inquiry on the matter.
