COTABATO CITY – Police have filed charges for drug trafficking against a jail guard assigned at the Lanao del Sur provincial jail for trying to smuggle into Marawi City some P1.3 million worth of illegal drugs.
Colonel Madzgani Mukaram, Lanao del Sur provincial director, identified the arrested suspect as jail guard Walid Nasser Usman assigned with the Lanao del Sur provincial jail in Marawi City.
He said the suspect was intercepted last Monday at a police checkpoint in Barangay Tampilong, Marawi City while transporting some 200 grams of shabu worth P1.3 million from Iligan City.
PLt. Col.Mardy Hortillosa, spokesperson of Police Regional Office-10, the suspect was listed as a high-value drug suspect who had been under surveillance for the past months prior to his arrest.
