President Duterte briefly met with Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Archie Gamboa in Malacañang Wednesday after he survived a recent helicopter crash in Laguna.
Gamboa appeared in high spirits and no longer wore a sling on his right arm when he attended the oath-taking of newly promoted police and military officials at the Palace.
The President shook hands with Gamboa and briefly chatted with him before the photo session with his family. Duterte apparently inquired about Gamboa’s condition while the PNP chief explained his current state.
The PNP chief returned to work last Monday after sustaining minor injuries from the helicopter incident last week.
“It has been a long and most eventful week that we just went through and until this day, we continue to cope with the aftermath of that unfortunate experience in San Pedro, Laguna,” Gamboa said in his press briefing in Camp Crame last Monday (March 9).
A helicopter carrying Gamboa and several policemen crashed in Laguna shortly after takeoff last Thursday (March 5) morning. The helicopter took off from a police compound, hit a power line, and crashed on a road. The passengers survived the helicopter crash but suffered injuries.
