“Pinapa-validate ko pa lang iyan. Nasabi lang sa akin ‘yan this morning,” Duque said in an interview with Dobol B sa News TV.

“Sabi ko, kunin ang buong kuwento at tinanong ko nga kaagad, meron bang preexisting medical condition? 80% ng mga pumapanaw, ito ‘yung may diabetes, may cancer, may hypertension. ‘Yun ang inaalam ngayon,” he added.

The fatality is reportedly an American citizen.

The result of the validation will be announced during the department’s regular press conference today, Duque said.

As of Tuesday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines has reached 24.

President Duterte placed the country under a State of Public Health Emergency on Monday following the resurgence of the COVID-19 cases in the country and the confirmation of its local transmission.
