BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Negros Occidental intercepted a cargo box containing about 100 grams of suspected shabu worth P680,000 at the Bacolod-Silay Airport on Saturday.
According to PDEA-Negros Occidental head Nicolas Gomez, they were conducting random paneling on the cargoes inside the airport’s warehouse around 7:20 a.m. when a K9 unit detected the contraband.
Gomez said the contraband was sealed in a tin can wrapped with carbon paper and mixed with some grocery items in a box.
Gomez said the item arrived from Manila, and would have been delivered to Bacolod.
He said they already have persons of interest. He, however, refused to reveal the identities of the consignee and the receiver.
The recovered items will be submitted to the PDEA laboratory in Iloilo for examination.
