GEN. LUNA, Quezon – The office of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) in the Calabarzon region (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) has issued an environmental compliance certificate (ECC) application for a sanitary landfill project in this town, as announced Thursday, here.

Mayor Matt Erwin Florido said that their application for ECC was finally approved for the site of municipal sanitary landfill under Category 1.

He added that the said ECC was signed by Director Noemi Paranada, officer-in-charge of EMB in the region, and the certificate provides that the local government unit of Gen. Luna will be implementing the measures presented in the Initial Environment Examination (IEE) checklist report that are intended to protect and mitigate the project’s adverse impact on community health, welfare, and the environment.

An environmental consideration shall also be incorporated in all phases and aspects of the project.

On the certificate, it reminded that it does not create any right nor should it be used as an authorization to implement the project, and may proceed with the project implementation only after securing all the necessary permits from other government agencies.

EMB will be monitoring the project periodically to ensure compliance with stipulation cited in the ECC.
