The wife of slain Batuan, Masbate vice mayor Charlie Yuson III posted P30,000 bail before a Manila court for a libel charge on Wednesday morning.

A warrant for Lalaine Yuson’s arrest was released on Feb. 28 after Manila City Regional Trial Court Branch 49 Judge Daniel Villanueva found probable cause to indict her for libel.

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board member Sandra Cam filed a libel charge against the vice mayor’s wife after she tagged Cam as the mastermind behind Yuson’s killing.

Yuson’s widow claimed her husband’s killing was politically motivated, after their son Charmax Jan won as mayor against Cam’s son Martin in the last local elections.

The PCSO executive denied Lalaine’s accusations and also slapped libel charges against reporters who quoted her in their reports.

Last week, the National Bureau of Investigation filed murder and frustrated murder raps against Cam for the vice mayor’s slay.

Her son and five others were also charged for allegedly collaborating and conspiring with Cam for Yuson’s killing.

The vice mayor was having breakfast in Sampaloc, Manila when he was shot dead by unidentified gunmen onboard a van in October 2019.

Lalaine’s arraignment is scheduled on May 12.
