The Department of Health said 41 new patients under investigation (PUIs) for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been reported on Friday.

Based on the COVID-19 case tracker of the health department, 597 PUIs have been recorded since the start of their surveillance last January.

Of that number, 455 PUIs have already recovered and been discharged while 139 individuals remain admitted in different medical facilities.

The Philippines still has three confirmed cases of COVID-19, two of whom have recovered while one died.

Meanwhile, Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that they received reports that 52 Filipinos onboard the M/V Diamond Princess cruise ship docked in Yokohama, Japan are infected with COVID-19.

“We received word this morning na meron na po tayong 52 na (that we have 52) positive cases for COVID-19,” Vergeire said.

She said that they are still verifying the said report of the eight additional cases. On Thursday, it was reported that there were 44 Filipinos who contracted the disease on the cruise ship.
