Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe, acting Bulacan police director, identified the slain suspects as Jim Joshua Galvez Cordero, alias Jhay, and Erwin Nadura Mergal, alias Amata, who were both included in the unified Philippine National Police (PNP)-Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) watch list.
Based on the report of Lt. Col. Gil Domingo, acting CSJDM police chief, Cordero and Mergal shot it out with the operatives while trying to escape when they sensed that they were dealing with a poseur police buyer, leaving the law enforcers no choice but to defend themselves. Seized were 34 plastic sachets of “shabu”; 10 dried “marijuana” leaves; assorted drug paraphernalia and buy-bust money. The arrested suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Crime Laboratory for examination.
