Passenger arrested for bomb joke inside aircraft

A 55-year-old passenger of Philippine Airlines flight to Laoag was arrested by the PNP Aviation Security group at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2, after he made a joke that his luggage contained a bomb.

Aviation Security group chief Quirico Tomotorgo Jr. identified the suspect as Protacio Paguirigan of San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

An investigation report last February 5, 2020 said Paguirigan was inside PAL flight PR- 2198 preparing for departure when the cabin crew assisted him in handling his trolley bag. The passenger said, “Sure walang problema. Basta alagaan mo yan, may sasabog diyan.”

The flight attendant against asked him what he said, and Paguirigan repeated his statement.

The cabin crew immediately informed the pilot in command and the aircraft was brought to Runway 6, the passengers were told to deplane passengers, and security searched the plane but no bomb was found.

Paguirigan was taken to the PNP Aviation Security Group for investigation.
