Cop ran over by motorcycle rider at Mangaldan checkpoint

MANGALDAN, Pangasinan – A member of the Mangaldan Police was rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries when a motorcycle rider drove through him at a checkpoint on the national road in Barangay Poblacion here.

According to the police, Police Chief Master Sergeant Romeo Liwanag was manning the checkpoint and flagged down motorcycle rider Gerald Marcial, 21, and a resident of Barangay Pogo here.

Liwanag was reported to have ordered Marcial to stop because he was not wearing a helmet.

But instead of yielding, Marcial sped on and even bumped Liwanag who was thrown to the pavement and sustained injueis. He was brought to the Pangasinan Medical Center in Dagupan City.

Marcial tried to speed off from the scene, but was chased down by responding police who caught up with him in Barangay Pogo.
