P885,000 illegal drugs seized; 6 suspects arrested

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A total of P885,000 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated, while six suspects were arrested during separate anti- drug operations conducted by the Police Regional Office-Cordillera.

Police Brig. Gen. R’win Pagkalinawan, regional director, said combined operatives of the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Mark Airone Arevalo Joya, 26, of Lontoc, Timalan, Balsahan, Naic, Cavite, at the National Road, Purok 5, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga, for possession of four marijuana bricks and three packed marijuana in tubular form worth P484,680.

In a separate buy-bust operation, Aaron Joel Sapon Estrada and Angelo Gaspar were arrested at Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet, for possession of six plastic sachets of shabu worth P1,000 each, and one cellphone.

On the strength of a search warrant, drug suspects Jefferson Pacio Damilo,28 and CJ Baggas,19, were arrested for possession of one suspected shabu, one Samsung cellular phone, P1,000 cash money, and P3,000 during the buy-bust operation.

On the other hand, Henry de Vera,51, of Barangay Kias, Baguio City, was arrested at Barangay San Vicente, Baguio City, that led to the confiscation of two pieces of a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, P6,000.00 boodle money, and one cellular phone.

A total of P399,800 worth of fully grown marijuana plants were destroyed during the one-day marijuana eradication of Benguet Provincial Police Office and PDEA drug enforcement operatives, and PDEA-CAR, at Sitio Almasi, Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet.
