Manila Àrchbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle is expected to leave the country Friday (Feb 7) to assume his new post in the Vatican.
“I think he leaves Friday,” a church source said but did not give further details.
Church officials, however, were not aware of this including Tagle’s private secretary Father Reginald Malicdem.
Father Roy Bellen of the Office of Communications of the Archdiocese of Manila also have no idea as to when the cardinal is leaving.
“My bosses also do not know when he is leaving,” he said.
It’s the same with Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo.
“I have no idea when he will leave,” he said.
It was last December when Pope Francis named Tagle as Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
He is expected to assume his post in the Vatican this month.
