In a statement, Festival Mall said a Filipino patient went to Healthway Medical in the mall for a check-up on Feb. 6.

“Upon exhibiting flu-like symptoms, the attending physician immediately coordinated with the City Health Office and RITM (Research Institute for Tropical Medicine) in accordance to the protocol prescribed by the government,” the mall said.

The patient was eventually brought to the RITM in Alabang for further medical observation, they added.

Because of the incident, there were posts on social media that the mall was on lockdown, which the mall management denied.

“In view of the speculations circulated through social media, we would like to assure our valued shoppers, business partners, and its employees that Festival Mall is fully operational.

“Rest assured that Festival Mall has been taking precautionary measures to assure the safety of our shoppers, business partners, and its employees,” they said.
