NGCP denies violating Constitution

Transmission firm National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has debunked allegations that it has violated the Philippine Constitution in the employment of two foreign executives that were previously assigned by its foreign partner State Grid Corporation of China.

NGCP President Anthony L. Almeda also denied that “the company employs foreigners in executive and management positions.”

On the questions raised by some lawmakers during a Senate hearing on the employment of Wen Bo and Liu Zhiaoquiang, he set on record that the two already left the country and no longer with NGCP.

“Bo and Liu left the country in 2018 and 2015, respectively,” Almeda said, adding that “they held technical positions in the company.”

The NGCP chief executive stressed that “all corporate acts of NGCP comply with the Constitution and other laws.”

He emphasized that NGCP only has four directors from State Grid of China “who do not perform executive or management functions.”
