‘Healing priest’ Father Fernando Suarez passed away Tuesday. He was 52.
Deedee Siytangco, spokesperson for Fr. Suarez, confirmed the news of his passing on DZMM.
Suarez was reportedly playing tennis in Ayala Alabang when he suffered a heart attack.
Father Melvin Castro, a close friend of the healing priest, said Suarez was brought to the Asian Hospital after he collapsed while playing tennis.
Known for his healing masses, Suarez put up multiple seminaries and healing centers in the country, in Taal; Oslob, Cebu; and Panabo, Davao del Norte.
The priest who hailed from Batangas also founded the Mary Mother of the Poor Foundation which aims to “seek holiness in evangelizing and working with the poor through the intercessions of the Blessed Virgin Mary.”
Suarez was ordained to the priesthood in 2002 at the age of 35. (With a report from Leslie Aquino)
