San Miguel Corporation (SMC) issued a statement Monday on a possible three-month delay in the opening of Skyway Stage 3 because of the damage caused to the structure by a fire in Pandacan, Manila.

According to the statement, the damage inflicted by the fire pushed the target opening date to July this year. Repairs need to be made on the structure before it can be deemed operational.
Last Saturday (Feb. 1), a fire broke out at 10:38 a.m. at a plastic plant warehouse in Pandacan and raged for more than five hours before it was finally put out.
The fire gutted a part of the Skyway extension under construction, causing extensive damage to the ongoing infrastructure project.
SMC in their statement said: “the full extent of damage and its impact to the construction have yet to be determined,” although arson probers from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Manila pegged the damage to property at P15 million.
The Skyway Stage 3 project which stretches from Makati to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Quezon City was originally set to open on April 1.
