ILOILO CITY – At least P6.3-million worth of suspected shabu was seized by policemen from a mother-and-son tandem in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Pavia town, Iloilo province.

Jennifer Nosotros, 42, and her 20-year-old son John Rey were arrested by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) early Sunday evening in a buy-bust operation.

“So far, this is the biggest haul anti-drug haul in Iloilo,” said Police Colonel Roland Vilela, IPPO chief.

Vilela told Manila Bulletin Monday that the more than half kilo of shabu was believed to have originated from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila.

Vilela explained that Nosotros is the sister of Jovan Abantao, a high-drug personality currently locked up at the New Bilibid Prison.

“She was the one continuing the illegal drug trading of her brother,” Vilela said.

The mother and son are believed to be a major distributor of shabu both in the city and province of Iloilo.

Meanwhile, the duo is facing charges of violating the Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
