BAGUIO CITY– Two persons died while five others were injured after the vehicle they were riding hit another vehicle Sunday evening in Tuba, Benguet.
According to the initial investigation of the Tuba Municipal Police Station (MPS), an Asian utility vehicle (AUV) being driven by Komatso Patras Mallari, 31, apparently went out of control and slammed into a closed van parked by the roadside.
The van was said to have been left abandoned on the road after a vehicular accident in the area last year.
The police also said Mallari may have fallen asleep on the wheel before the accident.
As a result of the car crash, Kevin Patras and Melbert Patras Caligtan, both residents of Poyopoy, Taloy Sur in Tuba, Benguet, were declared dead on-arrival at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC).
The other passengers, who are all vegetable farmers like the deceased victims, were Cedric Pili Dapyawen, 22; Vincent Pacas, 23; Orlando Bayusa Fermin, 47; and Kerwin Kiwas Baydan, 23.
