The country’s biggest supermarkets have partnered with digital financial services provider PayMaya as more Filipinos consumers adopt cashless payments for grocery shopping.

Landers, Rustan's Supermarket, and Shopwise joined the list of PayMaya QR-enabled supermarkets that includes Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Easymart, Robinsons Selections, Shopwise, Super8, Wellcome, LCC Supermarket, Metro Gaisano, Citimart Supermarket, WalterMart Supermarket, Budget Mart, South Emerald Supermarket, Prince Hypermart, among others.

“We see the strong shift of consumers towards the use of digital payments when shopping for groceries. Our partner merchants are able to address this demand by offering PayMaya QR and other digital payment options,” according to PayMaya President Shailesh Baidwan.

Digital transactions now comprise 20% in terms of value and 10% in terms of volume of all transactions in the country as of 2018, from just 10% and 1%, respectively, in 2013, according to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' latest data.

"On top of the convenience and regular promos, consumers also get better than cash rewards when they shop at our PayMaya Preferred Merchants,” he added.

PayMaya customers enjoy ₱100 cashback once a week when they #ScanToPay at Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Easymart, and Robinsons Selections for a minimum purchase of ₱500. They also get a chance to be among the 14 winners of a 1-minute grocery shopping spree worth ₱10,000 until January 31, 2020.

These perks come on top of the usual rewards they get when they pay using PayMaya QR, where they can get as much as 100% cashback capped at ₱500 for every qualified transaction.
