Stocks weaken due to China virus

Reflecting jitters in the regional bourses, local share prices weakened yesterday on growing concern over the China coronavirus.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) lost 35.78 points or 0.47 percent but the Financials, Property and Mining and Oil counters managed to make small gains.

Volume was weak with 1.9 billion shares worth ₱4.3 billion changing hands as losers beat gainers 119 to 69 with 43 stocks steady.

“Philippine stocks fell after the second case of coronavirus in the US was flagged, stoking concerns over the disease's global economic impact,” said Regina Capital Development Corp. Managing Director Luis Limlingan.
