The Intramuros Administration (IA) on Sunday urged the public to practice responsible tourism, especially in heritage sites, after a man was caught in a photo allegedly defecating on a larger flower pot at the Intramuros Wall.

IA added that it has dispatched a team to check the area after receiving the photos. However, the personnel deployed found “no waste in the area”, contrary to what was insinuated in the photo that was posted by a netizen on social media.

“We reiterate our call for everyone to be mindful of our environment and to practice responsible tourism, especially in our heritage sites,” it said in a statement.

The administration advised the public to remain vigilant and call the attention of any law enforcement or security who are posted in all areas if a similar instance occurs in the future.

On Sunday, a Facebook user uploaded several photos of a man believed to be defecating at the Baluarte de San Francisco de Dilao, in front of Mapua University around 11:09 a.m.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has ordered the city’s police to conduct a manhunt to identify the man.
