In a traffic advisory, MMDA said that a portion of Aurora Boulevard - between Oxford and Imperial Streets - “will be closed to vehicular traffic for seven (7) consecutive nights.” This road closure, the agency said, is to “make way to the replacement of 11 escalator units of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2, Cubao Station.”

“The closure will be implemented on the westbound lane (Manila-bound) from 12:01 am to 5:00 am on January 25, Saturday up to February 1, Saturday,” MMDA said.

In particular, MMDA noted that the closure “will allow the private contractor” of the Department of Transportation (DoTr) to “transfer the escalator units from a big truck to the Cubao LRT station using a mobile crane.”

MMDA explained that the “transfer would only be done at night to minimize the inconvenience.” Meanwhile, MMDA advised private and public utility vehicles that they will be diverted to take other routes.

For vehicles going to Manila, they must turn right to Yale Street or Oxford Street, turn right to Columbia Street, turn left to Imperial or West Point Street then back to Aurora Boulevard.
